This unique ensemble harmoniously finds its place in the history of the Beauvau-Craon family at château de Haroué!
It all began with Countess Zoé du Cayla, Louis XVIII's favorite, who brightened up the end of his reign. In 1821, as a token of his affection, the king had the château he had just bought in Saint-Ouen, northwest of Paris, rebuilt for her.
The furniture was ordered from cabinetmaker Pierre-Antoine Bellangé, supplier to all the Crown palaces.
But why is the furniture now atchâteau de Haroué?
Valentine du Cayla, daughter of Zoé du Cayla, wife of Edmond de Beauvau and a lover of the château, had the furniture inherited from her mother transported to Haroué.

During your visit, admire this exceptional royal ensemble, one of the few to have retained its coherence!
The gilded wood furniture, covered in white brocaded green silk, includes a very large sofa, two small sofas, eight armchairs, eight chairs and four small footstools.
Have you noticed the griffin motifs on the armrests of the sofas and armchairs? These are characteristic of the antiques taste of the early 19th century.
